Brass Salt & Pepper Mills, Handcrafted in Northern Greece

There is a moment when you set the table and everything on it feels exactly right, and another when you reach for something on the counter and it just feels good in your hand. These mills are warm and glowing in the brass, smooth on the crank, with the kind of weight that tells you immediately they were made by someone who cared. They have been handcrafted in the same family workshop in Northern Greece since 1977: a solid brass casing, never a coating, never a veneer. Turn the crank for freshly cracked pepper over pasta, or a careful turn of salt over something just pulled from the oven.

Did you know?

A small ritual that makes cooking worth doing slowly

Over time the brass develops a natural patina that only deepens with every meal, every gathering, every year the mills spend on your counter. They look as good sitting still as they do in use, the kind of thing guests notice before you even reach for them.

They grind with a consistency that changes how a meal tastes, and they are made to last: the kind of piece that gets passed down with the memories, and stays in the family long enough to make new ones.

How it works

How it grinds

Pepper: a metal grinding mechanism that adjusts from fine to coarse. It cracks each peppercorn, cuts it smaller, then grinds it to the size you choose.

Salt: salt is naturally corrosive, so the salt mill uses a strong, food-safe mechanism made from high-quality plastic reinforced with 40% glass, built to last.

  • 1st: grabs each peppercorn.
  • 2nd: cracks each peppercorn, before drawing it down to the teeth.
  • 3rd: grinding teeth grind the pepper for flavour and aroma.
  • Adjustment screw: sets the grind, from fine to coarse.

How to use

Setting up

Brass pepper mill, 9 in tall, with its crank handle

1. Take out the handle

For safe shipping, the handles are stored inside each mill, under the top lid. Simply lift them out.

2. Secure it with the top cap

Fit the handle on top of the mill and secure it with the top cap.

3. Set the grind

The pepper mill has a thickness adjustment screw that sets the grind from fine to coarse.

4. Turn the crank

Good to know

  • The handles are stored inside the body of each mill for safe shipping. Lift them out and secure them with the top cap before first use.
  • Salt is naturally corrosive, which is why the salt mill has its own food-safe mechanism reinforced with glass. Keep salt in the salt mill and peppercorns in the pepper mill.
  • Over time the brass develops a natural patina that deepens with use.
  • Each mill is handcrafted, so slight variation in colour, finish and size is normal.
