The Posture Pillow for Children

A pillow built for an adult head can push a child's head into a position where the mouth falls open. This pillow is made for a child's head instead. Its three-zone structure is designed to stop the head tipping backwards and the mouth falling open: a gentle hollow holds the head in place, a raised edge carries the neck and keeps the jaw naturally forward, and a bevelled edge gives side sleepers room, so the spine stays straight. It comes in three heights, matched to your child's age, from 1 to 18.

The problem

The dribbling. The snoring. The open mouth.

It looks harmless, and plenty of people will tell you they'll grow out of it. But if your child sleeps night after night with their mouth open, on a pillow made for adults, the head tips back, the chin is pressed down, the tongue falls back and the lower jaw drops back with it.

Change the pillow tonight. How your child's head lies for ten hours a night depends on what it rests on.

How it works

Three zones. One aim: mouth closed, nose open.

  • Head zone: a gentle hollow that holds the head in place, so it doesn't tip backwards.
  • Neck zone: a raised edge that carries the neck and keeps the jaw naturally forward.
  • Shoulder zone: a bevelled edge for side sleepers, so the spine stays straight.

Together, the three zones are designed to stop the head tipping backwards and the mouth falling open. Many parents notice calmer breathing through the nose within 7 to 14 nights. Every child is different.

How is it different?

One pillow tips the head back. The other holds it in place.

Same boy, same night. Different pillow.

A pillow built for an adult head pushes a child's head into a position where the mouth falls open. This pillow is shaped to do the opposite. Just a pillow: no mouth tape, no brace, no medication.

How to use

Use it every night

Most children settle into it within 1 to 2 nights. After that, this is what many parents notice:

  • Nights 1 to 7: calmer breathing, and waking up with an open mouth less often.
  • Nights 7 to 14: quieter nights, with the lips staying closed for longer.
  • Nights 14 to 21: more settled sleep, with less tossing and turning.
  • Nights 21 to 30: a settled routine. Keep using it every night.

Every child is different. If your child snores loudly or often, speak to your doctor.

Who it's for

Older than 9? There's a size for that too.

A teenager needs a different pillow from a toddler. That's why there's a size for ages 8 to 18: a different contour, a different height, and more support for a bigger head and a longer neck. Same three zones.

For the youngest, the smallest size is a first pillow of their own, from age 1.

What's inside

What your child's face rests against for ten hours a night

  • Hypoallergenic memory foam: soft, and it springs back.
  • A core made for children: supportive without being hard.
  • Dust mite resistant and breathable: no hot head at night.
  • Saliva resistant: nothing comes loose if your child dribbles or chews the fabric.
  • No chemical smell: ready to use straight out of the packaging.

Size

Choose your child's size

It grows with them. Three heights, matched to your child's stage of growth.

Size guide: 1 to 3 years 50 x 30 cm, 2 to 4 cm high; 3 to 8 years 50 x 30 cm, 4 to 6 cm high; 8 to 18 years 54 x 32 cm, 6 to 9 cm high

Ages 1 to 3: small

Toddlers, a first pillow of their own. 50 × 30 cm (19.7 × 11.8 in), 2 to 4 cm (0.8 to 1.6 in) high.

Ages 3 to 8: medium

50 × 30 cm (19.7 × 11.8 in), 4 to 6 cm (1.6 to 2.4 in) high.

Ages 8 to 18: large

A bigger head and a longer neck: teenagers. 54 × 32 cm (21.3 × 12.6 in), 6 to 9 cm (2.4 to 3.5 in) high.

Exactly 3 or 8 years old? Small for their age, take the smaller size. Tall for their age, take the larger one. Not sure? Take the larger one: you get more years out of it.

Questions parents ask

How soon will we notice a difference?

Most children settle into it within 1 to 2 nights. Many parents notice calmer breathing within the first 5 to 7 nights and quieter nights by around the second week. Use it every night. Every child is different.

What age is it for?

Children aged 1 to 18, in three sizes: ages 1 to 3, ages 3 to 8 and ages 8 to 18. Not sure which? Take the larger size.

My child often sleeps with their mouth open. Is it made for that?

Yes, that's what it's designed for. The three zones are designed to stop the head tipping backwards, the position in which the mouth tends to fall open. If your child snores loudly or often, or seems to struggle to breathe at night, speak to your doctor.

Will my child actually use it?

The shape feels supportive rather than strange, and most children settle into it within 1 to 2 nights. There's no “correct” position your child has to hold, and no battle at bedtime.

What is it made of?

Hypoallergenic memory foam, dust mite resistant and breathable. Use a separate pillowcase for everyday use: wash that with the rest of the bedding and the pillow itself stays clean.
