Mend Holes With a Small Woven Patch

A hole in a favourite jumper or a worn knee on your jeans does not have to be the end. This small mending loom turns visible mending into a simple, step-by-step process anyone can learn, with no sewing experience needed. Weave a neat, colourful patch right on the fabric and give your clothes a second life.

How it works

Stretch, hook and weave

Stretch the fabric over the round wooden disc and hold it in place with the spring. Run threads across the 16 hooks at the top, then weave back and forth, going over and under each thread.

This creates an interlocking structure that holds the patch securely to the fabric. Patterns let you make plain, checked or more detailed designs.

Patch size

Up to 2 × 2 inches

Using all 16 hooks, you can make patches up to about 5.2 × 5.2 cm (2 × 2 in). Use fewer hooks for smaller holes.

  • 16 hooks: for dense, sturdy patches.
  • Beech hardwood disc: a solid base to work on.
  • Metal spring: grips the fabric while you weave.
  • Compact: easy to carry and use anywhere.

Good to know

Neat on the inside too

The patch is made on the surface of the fabric and secured along its edges. On the inside you will only see a small rectangular outline. Once done, patches are machine washable and strong enough for regular wear.

Sustainable

Repair instead of replace

Choosing repair over replacement extends the life of your clothes and helps reduce waste, a small but meaningful step.

Questions people ask

Which fabrics does it work on?

It works on a wide variety of fabrics. For your first patches, slightly thicker, softer materials such as knitwear are easier to handle.

What thread should I use?

Most threads and yarns work. Slightly thicker thread or yarn fills the area more evenly and gives a stronger, cleaner finish.

Can I wash my clothes after mending?

Yes. Once secured, the patch is made for regular wear and normal machine washing.
