This stair tread template tool captures the exact width and angles between two walls or stringers and lets you transfer that shape straight onto your board. Adjustable steel rulers, a smooth sliding body and extendable aluminium bars make it useful for stairs, shelves, cabinets and custom furniture.
The challenge
Walls are rarely perfectly square
Fitting a stair tread, shelf or worktop between two walls usually means measuring, re-measuring and still ending up with gaps. Every corner can be slightly off, and tape measures cannot capture an angle.
This tool copies the real shape of the opening – width and both end angles – so you can mark it onto your material in one go.

Good to know: for the most accurate result, tighten all knobs before lifting the tool out of the opening.
